Replacement of the fire detection system at Zetra sports hall

Olympic hall “Jun Antonio Samaranch”, known as Zetra, is a sports hall in Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was built in 1994 as one of the venues for the XIV Olympic Games, held the following year in Sarajevo. It has capacity of 12.000 seats and maximum capacity of 20.000 visitors for concerts and similar events.

During the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the hall suffered a number of direct shell hits, burned down and completely destroyed. Upon initiative of the International Olympic Committee it was rebuilt in 1999.

During the reconstruction, the building was fitted with a fire detection system which over time became obsolete. Even the bigger problem was in the fact that there was no local service provider available, who could offer support and services for the equipment. For these reasons, the management decided to replace the existing fire detection system with a new one.

Arcus was selected to supply and install new fire detection system. The biggest challenge we faced was the necessity to replace all the cabling required for the fire detection equipment. Just as many other tasks we had before, we were able to deliver ahead the scheduled delivery date, and the Hall is now protected by the equipment based on the latest fire detection technology and the owner does not to worry about availability of maintenance and support services in the future.

In addition to the main control room, we have delivered a PC with Desigo CC software installed, offering many advanced system monitoring and control features, including graphical presentation of protected spaces.
