Completion of fire detection and alarm system at the Bijača Border Crossing

The Bijača Border Crossing is a category I crossing, facilitating movement of all types of goods. It was built according to the EU standards. The border crossing lays on the 5C motorway corridor. As the new sections of the motorway are completed, the importance of Bijača border crossing will increase.

Following several similar jobs successfully completed by our company on other border-crossings alog the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Arcus d.o.o. was selected to install fire-detection system on this border corossing.

One of many challenges faced by those involved in the project was the fact that the border crossing was built in stages and it comprises of several buildings, scattered across the border crossing site. The border crossing has several buildings: central building – two-story structure used by UIO customs services and BiH Border Police, building for customs officers and Border Police staff responsible for inspection of goods, building for thorough inspection of vehicles, building used by several inspectorates (market, phytosanitary and sanitary), building used by the staff of the Veterinary Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and several auxiliary buildings (backup generator, power substation, and sanitary facilities for passengers and staff)

Every building was fitted with equipment necessary for early fire detection. Necessary interconnecting installations were laid down between buildings and connected to the central control unit, to create a single system.

This was yet another successful project successfully implemented by Arcus on the 5C corridor.
